Renewal of the Baroque complex in Kuks was awarded the Grand Prix Prize for European Cultural Heritage, Europa Nostra, at Turku in Finland.
The top prize was awarded to the seven best European cultural heritage projects of a wider group of 29 competitors receiving prizes from the Europa Nostra association this year. The Czech Republic entered two candidates in the competition for the Grand Prix. In addition to Kuks, the educational project of the National Conservation Authority (NCA), Enjoying Czech Heritage, was also a contender.

The Europa Nostra prize is not the first one that has been awarded for renewal of the Baroque complex at Kuks. In the autumn of last year, Kuks was named Structure of the Year for 2016 and visitor interest is not waning. The main site for subsequent events in the Kuks – Pomegranate project has become the teaching centre, where creative ateliers, symposia, workshops and other events are held. Tourists are most attracted by the tour circuit presenting the history of the Špork family and the functioning of the hospital between its construction and the present time.
