Due to the positive development of the epidemiological situation in connection with the coronavirus pandemic, the Czech Republic has moved to the mitigation of previously adopted measures.

Entry into the territory of the Czech Republic is limited to necessary and justified cases only.

At present it is possible to travel between the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary, although there are certain limitations. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic is dealing with Germany and Austria about opening the borders.

On 17 May 2020 the state of emergency in the Czech Republic was terminated. In May there were about 8,000 persons with confirmed COVID-19 infection and about 300 people had died in the Czech Republic, which has almost 11 million inhabitants. The total number of those who had recovered from COVID-19 reached almost 6,000.

Hotels, restaurants, shops, exchange offices and tourist information centres are open. Their operation is restricted and they have implemented measures protecting both visitors and staff. Taxi services are also available.

Public transport all over the Czech Republic is operating as usual, but passengers are required to wear a face mask covering their nose and mouth when using public transport. Face masks, respirators and protective gloves are available in the common network of pharmacies and medical facilities.

It is required to wear face masks and keep a distance of two metres in the interior. Disinfectants are available everywhere. The number of visitors in the individual monuments and facilities is limited according to the size of the place.
