National Geographic Traveller Food Festival 2023
To introduce destinations outside Prague. This was the main goal of the presentation of the Czech Republic at the National Geographic Traveller Food Festival in London. CzechTourism, in cooperation with the Statutory City of Brno, the South Moravia Tourism Authority and the National Wine Centre, arranged the exhibition for the third time. This project was organised also with support from the Czech Embassy in London. The festival was attended by more than 7,000 people over two days in July.
The National Geographic Traveller Food Festival was held in London at the Business Design Centre. The Czech Republic's stand offered an opportunity to learn about loca gastronomy. Not only to get information, but also to taste it. Specifically wine or unique cocktails.

"Because we know that experiences work, we offered several of them at the Czech stand. A bartender from Brno prepared delicious cocktails and introduced this modern city and its culinary scene. The national sommelier Klára Kollářová offered a tasting of Czech wines. Many visitors to the fair were surprised, as they had no idea that the Czech Republic is a wine destination," says Katarína Hobbs, director of the foreign representation of the Czech Tourist Authority - CzechTourism, adding: "One of the highlights of the presentation was the guided tasting in the Wine and Spirit Theatre."

Reactions? A number of visitors to the National Geographic Traveller Food Festival said they would be visiting the Czech Republic. As well as Brno and South Moravia, they expressed interest in Prague, but also in domestic spas, cycling, hiking or, for example, very popular acitivity within the UK -  birdwatching and water tourism. Therefore, the CzechTourism representation for Great Britain wants to continue similar events in the future, and in addition to wine tourism, it wants to focus on train travel.

This year's presentation at the National Geographic Traveller Food Festival in London was preceded by the Czech Soirée. The event, which was prepared by CzechTourism's foreign representation for the UK in cooperation with Czech partners and the Czech Embassy, was intended to commemorate 30 years of the independent Czech Republic and the Czech Tourist Authority - CzechTourism. More than 100 people attended, from representatives of the travel sector, to digital content creators, journalists and entrepreneurs from other areas. The current tourist offer of the Czech Republic with an emphasis on South Moravia was presented. It also included a beer tapping school from the British branch of Budějovický Budvar and live swing music including lessons in basic swing dance steps.
