The Czech brand papelote offers a wide range of original notebooks, sketchbooks, textile book covers, felt cases and much more –all designed and made in the Czech Republic from environmentally friendly materials.
The story of papelote started as a dissertation of a graphic designer and illustrator Kateřina Šachová, which was created at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague. Its mission was primarily to revive the forgotten beauty of stationery and paper itself and to point out its role in the Czech history, culture as well as in our present.

In 2009, Kateřina, her husband Filip Šach and their friend Denisa Havrdová, decided to join together in order to bring papelote to life. Papelote was presented to the public for the first time at Designblok, exhibition of design, in 2009. One year later, the first store was opened, offering the whole range of products to customers.

"We wanted to fill the gap in the stationery market in the Czech Republic by presenting paper as a material that has a long and rich history and offers a wide range of possibilities for use today," Šachová explains.

At Designblok 2011, papelote presented its new paper, fabric and felt collections, for which it was awarded the "Store of the Year 2011" award from the Czech Grand Design Academy. Papelote keeps growing ever since. In 2011, it launched its own e-shop offering a wide range of products and is sold by distributors both in the Czech Republic and abroad.
