Designblok, the biggest design showcase in Central Europe, returns to Prague from 7–11 October 2026. A highlight of Prague’s cultural calendar, the festival brings together designers, architects, fashion labels and creative studios from the Czech Republic and abroad.

Designblok: The Biggest Design Showcase in Central Europe

Prague Industrial Palace

The 2026 edition of Designblok will be framed by the theme Light, as a symbol of knowledge, truth, hope, and life. Once again, the festival will guide visitors to exceptional locations across Prague, from the Trade Fair Palace of the National Gallery Prague, through the Museum of Decorative Arts, to Prague Castle, the Chapel of the Holy Cross, Prague Castle Riding School, the newly reopened Industrial Palace at Prague Exhibition Grounds, and dozens of other venues throughout the city.

The newly reopened Industrial Palace, one of Prague’s most iconic historic exhibition buildings, will welcome the public for the first time after its extensive reconstruction as part of Designblok 2026. The festival will be the first major public event to take place in the newly restored palace, which has quite literally risen from the ashes after the devastating 2008 fire. Today, the spectacular historic building is once again ready to become one of Prague’s major cultural and exhibition venues.

The programme will include a special day for professionals and the Designblok Talks conference (6 October 2026), curated exhibition projects, leading figures of international design, hundreds of new works by designers and brands, fashion shows, presentations by emerging talents, debates, creative workshops, and an extensive accompanying programme.

Every year, dozens of additional galleries, showrooms, and shops across the city also take part in the festival. Discover the map ⬈ to see all the places brought to life by Designblok.

International stars and leading Czech designers

One of this year’s biggest names is Marcel Wanders, the renowned Dutch product and interior designer and co-founder of Moooi. Wanders will be the festival’s principal guest of honour and will receive the Designblok Award for Outstanding Contribution to Global Design. His best-known works include the iconic Knotted Chair and the Skygarden light for Flos.

DESIGN FOR VÁCLAV HAVEL:

A special highlight is Design for Václav Havel at Prague Castle Riding School, an exhibition exploring the role of design during Havel’s presidency and featuring furniture, lighting and interiors created for Prague Castle, including the return of his original presidential office designed by glass artist Bořek Šípek.

The programme also puts the spotlight on leading Czech designers Eva Eisler and Maxim Velčovský, with dedicated exhibitions exploring their distinctive approaches to materials, objects and contemporary design. Other highlights include a presentation of historic Czechoslovak lighting and a selection of emerging European designers and graduates.

Visitors will also discover new collections and creations from leading Czech brands and designers working across art glass, jewellery, interior design and fashion, offering a glimpse into the country’s vibrant contemporary creative scene. With its diverse programme, Designblok ⬈ offers something for everyone: also families with children, for whom a special programme has been prepared.
