The Signal Festival is a festival of light, videomapping and light installations, and belongs to one of the greatest cultural events in the Czech Republic. Under the direction of Czech and international experts in light design in artistic spaces, Prague’s streets and public areas, its most popular historical monuments as well as lesser known corners, all change over the course of four evenings to capture the different facades of today’s and yesterday’s Prague in non-traditional ways.

Signal Festival 2025 – Where Light Meets Technology

From 16 to 19 October 2025, Prague will once again become the centre of light art as the Signal Festival returns for its 13th edition. This year’s theme, “Solutions,” explores the connection between humans, technology, and nature.

The festival will feature two main routes – City Centre and Vinohrady – filled with artistic installations, video mappings, and light projections that will illuminate both historic landmarks and hidden corners of the city. A major highlight will be OVERLOЯD, a projection by the Italian studio MammasONica, presented for the first time ever on the Old Town Hall Tower.

For the first time in the festival’s history, a projection on a water screen will take place on Dvořák Embankment, created by the Taiwanese studio Peppercorns. The same studio will also present a stunning LED installation “Between Mountains and Seas,” which, under the patronage of Palladium shopping centre at Republic Square, simulates the history of the Taiwanese city of Tainan.

At the Church of St. Salvator in the Convent of St. Agnes, the National Gallery Prague will present Bill Viola’s monumental video installation “Tristan’s Ascension (The Sound of a Mountain Under a Waterfall)”, showcasing the work of the American pioneer of video and new media art.

A new immersive projection titled “Mist” will be created especially for the courtyard of Clam-Gallas Palace. In this piece, German artist Robert Seidel blends baroque and digital aesthetics, transforming the space into a dynamic field of light and energy.

After three years, video mapping will return to the façade of St. Ludmila’s Basilica at Peace Square (Náměstí Míru). Spanish studio V.P.M., one of the leaders in audiovisual art, will present “Iteration (The Infinite Rhythm of the City)”, enhanced with spectacular laser effects.

In addition to freely accessible outdoor installations, visitors can also explore Signal INSIDE, a series of ticketed indoor spaces offering unique light experiences in a more intimate setting. The accompanying Signal Forum conference will once again bring together art, technology, and nature through inspiring talks and discussions.

For four autumn nights, Prague will transform into a glowing open-air gallery, where historic architecture meets cutting-edge digital art in a breathtaking celebration of creativity.
