As stated above, an official registered partnership is only possible in the Czech Republic if at least one spouse is a citizen of the Czech Republic. If both are foreigners, a symbolic wedding is possible.
Registered partnership
A registered partnership is a permanent cohabitation of two persons of the same sex, which is created by the consent of these persons that they are entering into a partnership. To enter into a registered partnership in the Czech Republic, both partners must be over 18 years of age and at least one of them must be a citizen of the Czech Republic. Persons related to each other in the direct line and siblings cannot enter the partnership.
If both partners are foreigners, it is not possible to conclude a legally valid registered partnership in the Czech Republic. In this case, you can celebrate your wedding in the Czech Republic with a symbolic wedding.
The declaration is made before the registry office. If one of the partners is a foreigner and does not understand Czech, it is necessary to secure a court interpreter, who will then sign the protocol. The presence of witnesses is not required.
