Meda Mládek, supporter and promoter of modern art and lifestyle, an inspiring personality, who this year is celebrating her 100th birthday. During her life in The United States, together with Jan Mládek, she created one of the most important collections of Central European art. The exhibition will present not only the life of these Czech patrons in America, but also their house, which became a salon and sanctuary for other Czechoslovakian émigrés and embodied a free Czechoslovakia. The Mládek home in Washington was a meeting place for artists, intellectuals, personalities, as well as a bridge that connected the world behind the Iron Curtain with the West and West with the cultural wealth of the Eastern Bloc countries. The combination of art, architecture, fashion and design created a unique space, the forerunner of today’s Museum Kampa.
