The festival Stars over the Vltava festival brings world-class music to stunning locations across South Bohemia — including České Budějovice, Hluboká nad Vltavou, Bechyně, Český Krumlov and, for the first time, Prague. This year’s theme, “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” sets the tone for 16 concerts featuring classical masterpieces, jazz, and cross-genre innovation.

The festival opens with a vibrant Broadway Night featuring West End stars and Czech violinist Pavel Šporcl, followed by a highlight concert with the English Chamber Orchestra performing Mendelssohn’s Midsummer Night’s Dream and a world premiere suite by composer Lukáš Sommer.

Celebrating Bach’s 340th anniversary and the legacy of Felix Mendelssohn, the festival blends tradition with creativity. Performances take place in castles, churches and open-air stages, and feature stars like Marc Coppey, Clarinet Factory, and guests from London, Paris, and Munich ballet companies.

Part of the national “Vltava: Famous & Navigable” project, the festival also features the Vltava Organ Series in historic riverside churches.

More than a concert series, Stars over the Vltava is a cultural experience that combines world-class music, historical beauty, and the spirit of Czech heritage.
