Located within the tranquil grounds of the Břevnov Monastery, Hotel Adalbert offers a unique opportunity to stay inside the oldest Benedictine monastery in Czechia. With origins dating back to 993, this sacred site is steeped in over 1,000 years of history and spiritual tradition.

The hotel is situated in a U-shaped Baroque building constructed in 1668 by Abbot Tomáš Sartorius, making it the oldest surviving above-ground structure in the entire monastery complex—older than the current basilica and convent buildings. In 2003, the former convent was sensitively restored and reopened as Hotel Adalbert, named after one of the monastery’s founders, Saint Adalbert, the second bishop of Prague.

The interiors of the hotel retain their historical charm while offering guests modern comfort in an environment designed for rest and reflection. From here, guests have direct access to the monastery gardens and all major points of interest within the grounds.

Gardens, Brewery and Sacred Ambience

Just below the Klášterní šenk restaurant lies the Břevnov Monastic Brewery of St. Adalbert, where beer has been brewed since the 11th century. Today, visitors can taste fresh brews in the Klášterní výčep taproom, located in a restored Baroque granary next to the monastery’s shop and information center.

Guests can also enjoy peaceful strolls through the monastery’s gardens, open daily, where they’ll find the historic Orangery and the Chapel of St. Joseph (known as “Josefka”). The gardens provide a serene atmosphere for meditation, and they also host civil wedding ceremonies in a setting that beautifully blends nature and spirituality.

Since its return to the Benedictine order in 1990, the entire Břevnov Monastery complex has been designated a national cultural monument. Guests at Hotel Adalbert often describe their stay as more than just accommodation—it’s an immersive experience in one of Prague’s most spiritually and architecturally significant places.
