Hiking, Adventure and Culture
EURORANDO is about much more than walking. The programme combines guided group hikes, marked individual routes, day trips by bus and a wide range of cultural events. The routes vary in length and difficulty and lead through some of the most scenic parts of the Ore Mountains, taking hikers to natural attractions, historic sites and reminders of the region’s centuries-old mining heritage.
The guided hiking programme runs from Monday 21 to Friday 25 September. Most routes can be reached by shuttle bus from Boží Dar, Loučná pod Klínovcem or Kurort Oberwiesenthal. Participants can also choose from individually marked routes and excursions at their own pace.
For those looking for more adventure, the programme includes activities such as a via ferrata and rafting or canoeing on the Ohře River. Day trips by bus offer another way to discover the region, with excursions focusing on its mining heritage, cultural attractions and other highlights.
In the evenings, concerts, exhibitions, regional markets and other events will bring the towns and villages of the Ore Mountains to life.
Highlights of Eurorando 2026
20 September – Opening ceremony
The festival officially opens in Boží Dar at 5 pm, followed by an outdoor exhibition and a market featuring regional products and specialities.
21–25 September – Hiking programme
The main guided hiking programme takes place throughout the week, alongside individual routes, bus excursions and a rich accompanying programme.
22 September – Stoneman Hike
The Stoneman Hike trail will be officially opened at Breitenbrunn Rabenberg Sports Park, where a full day of hiking activities and events is planned.
24–27 September – Deutscher Wandertag
EURORANDO will overlap with the 123rd Deutscher Wandertag, Germany’s major annual hiking gathering, which will take place in Oberwiesenthal. The two events will bring an exceptional concentration of hiking activities, cultural events and outdoor experiences to the Ore Mountains.
26 September – A symbolic cross-border celebration
In Boží Dar, a stone cairn symbolising the Stone Heart of Europe will be ceremonially unveiled at 1 pm near the former border. A festive procession will then set off at 1:30 pm, followed by the closing ceremony of EURORANDO 2026 in Oberwiesenthal at 6 pm.
27 September – Final day
The festival concludes in Oberwiesenthal with an open-air service and a morning concert.
Discover the UNESCO World Heritage Site
The Ore Mountains are a fascinating destination for hikers because their landscape tells the story of centuries of mining. Mines, mining settlements, technical monuments and other traces of the industry have shaped the region on both sides of the Czech-German border. The Erzgebirge/Krušnohoří Mining Region was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2019. EURORANDO offers an opportunity to explore this exceptional cultural landscape on foot while discovering the natural beauty and mining heritage that make the region unique.
Eurorando is more than just a hiking festival — it’s a meeting point for nature lovers, culture seekers, and European solidarity. It returns to Czechia after five years and for the first time is held across two countries simultaneously. Organizers expect up to 3,000 - 5,000 hikers from across Europe.
