The town situated on a promontory above the Rokytná River took its name from the word “krum”, meaning “serpentine”.
It is literally chock-full of monuments, the most interesting one being the chateau with an exhibition about the Renaissance physician Paracelsus. The oldest building in the town is the Princely House (Knížecí dům), which contains the town museum, a gallery and an archaeological exhibition about the Moravský Krumlov area. Do not miss the breathtaking view from the Chapel of St. Florian above the town.
