The Flaschar Mine Museum in Odry is located in Nový Svět. The biggest attraction of the shale underground is the unique Odra furrow, which was formed by the enormous pressure of the mounding mud, which rolled up like dough and later solidified and fossilized.
Experience complete silence and all-consuming darkness in one of only two accessible shale mines in the Czech Republic. The mysterious atmosphere is enhanced by bittersweet stories from the lives of not only the miners, but also the founder of the mine and the second and last owner after whom the mine is named. The guide will tell you about the romantic origin of the name of the Hortenzie adit, what the so-called Silesian sparrow is or why the mine still looks like it did in 1918. You will refresh yourself with drinks cooled "on the eighth step" right in the mine and at the end you will try how to split slate with special scissors.
