Tips for Family Holidays in the Czech Republic
If the perfect holiday means that the children are playing happily and exploring new environments with new friends while you are relaxing - these tips can come in handy. Although Prague offers a large number of indoor and outdoor activities for families and children, it is definitely worth leaving the capital behind and taking off on a trip outside of Prague to discover the beauty of different corners of the Czech Republic.

Prague - among dinosaurs and ghosts

DinoPark Prague is a fun and educational amusement park, filled with real models of dinosaurs. They move and roar, to make the encounter with the giants even more real. Another popular place for children is the Petřín Hill in Prague, with the lookout tower and the mirror castle - lots of fun are waiting! Prague Zoo is located on the northern outskirts of the city - just getting to the zoo can be a part of the adventure. Take a boat trip along the river with Prague Steamboat Co. Enjoy a stroll through beautiful Stromovka, or rent bikes and cycle through the park. Once here you will find a child-friendly zoo where you can pet the animals along with miniature cars and a big play area. Enjoy a bit of fright? Take a ghost walk through Prague's dark past and look for ghost stories and legends on the narrow cobbled streets in the Old Town where alchemists, monsters and ghosts once haunted.

The Bohemian Paradise

Is there anything better than finding a place where children can discover lots of fun and even more fun? If that's the type of place you're looking for, take a trip to the Bohemian Paradise. Here you will find not only amazing rock formations but also castles and trails, along with the Happy Land (Šťastná země) complex in Radvánovice. Happy Land offers fun, eco-friendly attractions such as climbing walls, mazes and trampolines. Take a starting point in the region in the town Jicin, often called the gateway to the Bohemian Paradise - also known as the Fairy Tale town. The town of Jicin has got its undoubted magical feel, thanks to the Czech author Václav Ctvrtek and his character robber Rumcajs. Every year in September, the festival "Jicin – The Town of Fairy Tale" is held and offers a wide range of activities to its visitors, especially children. The city is very child friendly with a museum with interactive exhibits. Nearby you will find the national park Prachovske Skaly, which offers child-friendly walks through beautiful scenery and with a landscape of spectacular rock formations. In Hradec Králové you can get acquainted with tropical freshwater fishes and exotic tropical nature. In the Giant freshwater aquarium, over 40 species of tropical fishes from South America reside in and float in a tunnel above the heads of visitors.

Into the Wild West with Cowboys and Indians

Fans of western movies will love the town of Šiklův Mlýn, located in the middle of the woods of the highlands of Bohemia-Moravia. Visitors will find wild horses, brave heroes, cowboys, Indians, villains and bandits. The Wild West city is a true replica of similar cities in the American West that spreads through a picturesque valley close to the Bobrůvka River in Zvole nad Pernštejnem. You can easily reach Prague via the D1 motorway in direction of Brno. Šiklův Mlýn is the largest outdoor entertainment area in the Czech Republic. Thanks to good accommodation, entertaining programs and beautiful natural surroundings, it is an ideal place for family celebrations or as a destination for a weekend getaway.
