Visit Landmarks That Breathe the Renaissance

The chateau in the centre of Telč is one of the best preserved Renaissance masterpieces in Czechia. The unique preserved exteriors are supplemented with beautiful interiors, including the original Gothic part as well as the spectacular Renaissance halls. The chateau interiors are not accessible at the moment but it is a beautiful sight from the outside as well.

One of the most picturesque squares you can see in Czechia is lined with a unique group of Gothic and Renaissance townhouses with arcades and decorated gables. You won’t see that anywhere else in the world! On the south-east edge of the centre, you will find the remains of the late Gothic walls with the large and small gate. If you love looking at the world from a bird’s eye view, climb the tower of the Church of the Holy Spirit, which offers an amazing view of the historical centre.

The Annual Historical Festival Fills the Whole Town!

The historical festival of Zachariáš of Hradec and Catherine of Valdštejn, dedicated to the noble couple that both the town and the chateau owe their beauty to, takes place at the end of August every year. The Square of Zachariáš of Hradec fills with a period market, historical artisans, theatre performances in costumes and various stands with good food and drinks. Don’t miss the festival if you’re planning to visit Telč in August 2023!
