A Philatelic Treasure Has Arrived in Prague
The world’s most valuable postage stamp is currently on display in Prague. Biennale 2026 – Treasures of World Philately runs at the Municipal House until 6 September 2026, showcasing around 60 rare stamps, covers and other philatelic treasures from leading private collections across Europe.
British Guiana One-Cent Magenta
The star attraction is the legendary British Guiana One-Cent Magenta, widely regarded as the world’s most valuable postage stamp and one of the greatest rarities in philately. Visitors can also see the iconic Inverted Jenny and other exceptional pieces rarely shown to the public.

The unique 1856 stamp is currently valued at more than CZK 250 million (around €10 million), making it the most valuable stamp ever to be exhibited in the Czech Republic. When it sold for US$9.5 million in 2014, Sotheby’s described it as the most valuable object in the world by weight and size.
