Experience traditional Czech cuisine and South Bohemian hospitality at Tavern U Jiskrů, a historic coaching inn with a passion for preserving Czech culinary traditions.

Dating back to the 19th century, Tavern U Jiskrů continues the tradition of a historic coaching inn that once welcomed travellers on the route between Strakonice and Prague. Since 2019, the inn has been run by Chef Martin Jiskra and his family, combining the rich history of the place with his international culinary experience and a contemporary approach to traditional Czech and Central European cuisine.

The seasonal menu showcases high-quality ingredients sourced from local South Bohemian farmers and producers while bringing forgotten regional recipes back to the table. From a quick lunch to a memorable dinner, guests can discover authentic Czech specialities, including classics such as chicken in paprika sauce, baked Szeged goulash, veal udder, pulled pork jowl and pigeon as well as Chef Martin Jiskra’s signature Czech sweet filled yeast buns.

In recognition of his dedication to preserving and promoting Czech gastronomy, Martin Jiskra became the first recipient of the Czech Specials title Bearer of Czech Culinary Traditions in 2022.
