The Moravian Gallery in Brno is one of the Czech Republic’s most impressive art museums, offering a rich journey through visual culture from the Middle Ages to contemporary art and design. With a collection of over 200,000 works, it’s the second-largest institution of its kind in the country.

A Unique Multi-Venue Art Experience

The Moravian Gallery isn’t just a single building — it’s a cultural complex spread across several historic and modern venues in Brno, each with its own character and focus.

Pražákův Palace – Modern and Contemporary Art

Located in the heart of Brno, Pražákův Palace showcases art from the 20th century to the present day. Its main permanent exhibition ART IS HERE is divided into two parts: modern art of the first half of the 20th century and contemporary works. The palace also hosts short-term exhibitions, a café, a gallery shop, a children’s play area, and an art lending library.

Museum of Applied Arts – Design, Fashion & Creativity

At Uměleckoprůmyslové muzeum, visitors explore design, fashion, and applied arts through permanent displays like ART DESIGN FASHION and rotating exhibitions. This venue also features a creative space for workshops and activities.

Místodržitelský Palace – Art for All

Currently partly reopened after renovation, this Baroque palace offers educational exhibitions and engaging programs for visitors of all ages.

Jurkovič Villa – Architecture and Art Nouveau

A masterpiece of early 20th-century architecture, Jurkovič Villa was designed by famous Czech architect Dušan Jurkovič and now houses exhibitions about his life and work.

Open Depository – Behind the Scenes of Museum Work

A truly special experience, the Open Depository shows how art collections are stored, catalogued, conserved, and prepared for exhibitions — giving visitors a peek into museum operations rarely seen elsewhere.
