The City Museum in Mariánské Lázně

Enter and discover the history of the magical spa town. It was here that the poet Goethe wrote a love story about the young Ulrika.

The former House "The Golden Grape", where the renowned poet, stayed with the likes of Goethe is today the seat of the Municipal Museum.

The building in which Goethe dreamed about his unfulfilled love, is the oldest building in the city and there you can learn in a fun way about the history of the picturesque spa as well as about famous visitors and their fates.

Today's Municipal Museum was originally built as a guest house for spa guests and is still one of the landmarks of the square Goethovo náměstí. In the house "The Golden Grape" (U Zlatého hroznu), later in honor of its famous guest renamed "Goethe-Haus" J.W. Goethe, a separate exhibition is dedicated. Besides the German Romantic writer, another famous visitor, the British King Edward VII, has a space reserved here as well. Many other important guests to Mariánské Lázně are also recalled. You can also discover the remarkable history of the town and the spa itself, or an exhibition on the nature of the forest Slavkovský les, in which Mariánské Lázně is situated.
