The historic center of Polička

The city walls, enclosing the original medieval city whose history dates back to the 13^th century, are preserved in an amazing length of 1220 meters. Regularly spaced towers provide them with their monumentality. The Baroque town hall on the central square Palackého náměstí, which is home to a Museum and Gallery, as well as the adjacent plague column with splendid sculptural decoration gives an equally majestic impression. The spirit of the old days also still dwells in the historic townhouses in the winding streets of the city even in modest houses, which have cowered in the shadow of the walls for centuries.
