Prague: romantic strolls and great food

Prague and its meandering streets are made for a romantic stroll with your loved one. The island of Kampa in Lesser Town is one of the most charming places in Prague. In addition to the enchanting view of Smetanovo nábřeží with Charles Bridge and the National Theatre, it is also home to the bridge of love – an older bridge over the Čertovka River where lovers hang padlocks with their names on the railing and toss the key in the water. From Kampa, you should definitely go for a walk on Charles Bridge, the oldest preserved bridge in Prague, to witness its unique atmosphere for yourself, especially in the small hours, or late at night. From the bridge, you can also see the largest castle compound in the world: Prague Castle, which is also worth visiting.

When you have had enough of walking, it is a good idea to book a table in one of the best Prague restaurants. In Lesser Town, you can go to the U Zlaté studně restaurant, where you will not only be impressed with the food, but also with the view of the hundred towers of Prague and a wall covered with 18-carate gold flakes. Your taste buds will also enjoy the Alcron Restaurant, which has held a Michelin star since 2012! The art deco stylish interior with the original marble fireplace from the 1930s is perfect for a Valentine dinner. You can also spend an Italian-styled St. Valentine’s Day at the Four Seasons hotel restaurant.
 

St. Valentine’s Day outside Prague

Other parts of the Czech Republic are also inviting you to spend the holiday of love there. For example, the Štramberk Beer Spa in North Moravia offers a unique experience, however, you can also visit a beer spa in Karlovy Vary in West Bohemia (the local First Beer Spa offers an hour-long relaxation in huge one-thousand-litre barrels), in Harrachov in Krkonoše, or Kutná Hora about an hour by car east of Prague. However, if you prefer wine, then you should definitely visit the wine spa in Hustopeče or the Lednice Valtice Cultural Landscape, which with its 283.09 km² is the largest landscaped area in Europe, and most likely in the world. Yet what is most important is a degustation exposition of the Salon of Wines of the Czech Republic in the basement of Valtice Chateau. Almost all wellness hotels in the Czech Republic offer bargain Valentine package holidays, so you just need to decide if you want to get pampered in the romantic environment of the aristocratic Mcely Chateau in Central Bohemia, in the designer Omnia Hotel in Janské Lázně in Krkonoše, or in the Maximus Resort hotel by the Brno Dam.

Or, you could do something unusual for St. Valentine’s Day and spend the evening in romantic natural localities, such as the Prachov Rocks, watch the sunset at the Pravčice Sandstone Gate, or enjoy the landscape from the Máj Lookout Point in Central Bohemia, located near the village of Teletín above the former St. John’s Rapids, which is considered to be one of the most beautiful views of the Vltava River.
