Not Just Prague: MICHELIN Stars Shine Nationwide

This is epic! For the first time, the prestigious MICHELIN Guide has highlighted the best restaurants across the Czech Republic. One restaurant was awarded two stars, while eight others received one MICHELIN star each, cementing the Czech Republic’s reputation as a gastronomic destination well worth visiting. Altogether, the MICHELIN Guide Czechia 2025 includes 1 Two Star, 8 One Star, 4 Green Star, 18 Bib Gourmand, and 52 MICHELIN-recommended restaurants.

Papilio Restaurant Awarded Two Stars

The experiential Papilio restaurant in Vysoký Újezd, set amidst the Brdy forest near the Albatross Golf Course, just 20 minutes from Prague, has every reason to celebrate. Chef Jan Knedla and his team were awarded two MICHELIN stars. Housed in the former castle stables with a stunning vaulted ceiling, this chic restaurant the open kitchen offers tasting menus expertly paired with both wine and tea.

  • Karlštejn Castle: One of the best-known Czech castles, a striking medieval landmark ideal for a half-day trip.

  • Svatý Jan pod Skalou: A historic Baroque monastic complex set in beautiful natural surroundings.

8 Czech Restaurants Received One MICHELIN Star

Eight Czech restaurants have been awarded one MICHELIN star, six of them for the first time. Among them are the renowned ESSENS in Hlohovec near Břeclav (part of the CHATEAU DE FRONTIER hotel resort) in the UNESCO-listed Lednice-Valtice complex; the modern Entrée in Olomouc with an open kitchen and a unique concept; and the stylish La Villa in Zlín, serving a fusion of French and Czech cuisine.

In Prague, notable newcomers include LEVITATE, which combines predominantly Czech ingredients with Asian spices and Nordic elements, the Italian fine-dining restaurant Casa De Carli, and the modern restaurant Štangl.

Meanwhile, Field and La Degustation Bohême Bourgeoise in Prague successfully retained their MICHELIN stars, further affirming the city’s status as a culinary hub.

18 Bib Gourmand restaurants in Czechia



These restaurants retained their Michelin Bib Gourmand distinction - an award recognising excellent value for money: Dejvická 34, Na Kopci and The Eatery. Among the 15 new Bib Gourmand recipients are Šupina a Šupinka in Třeboň, as well as Bar ATELIER & Bistro in Brno. Equally noteworthy are Long Story Short Eatery & Bakery in Olomouc, a modern bistro built around the concept of shared plates, MIURA located within the Čeladná golf course complex, and Výčep in Prague.

A total of 52 more restaurants in Czechia are included in the Michelin selection. Italian cuisine is represented by Aromi, CottoCrudo, and La Finestra in Cucina. Those seeking traditional Czech cuisine can visit Bockem or Café Imperial. Michelin also recognized the steakhouse Monarch, while French and Mediterranean cuisine can be enjoyed at La Veranda and Pot au Feu. Restaurants focusing on modern gastronomy include Benjamin, Grand Cru, Portfolio, Salabka, and V Zátiší. Rounding out the selection are QQ Asian Kitchen and Taro, both specialising in Asian cuisine, as well as Yamato, a Japanese restaurant.

Three MICHELIN Guide Special Awards

Three experts in their respective fields have received a MICHELIN Guide Special Award for their exemplary work:

  • MICHELIN Service Award was granted to Miroslav Nosek, who welcomes his guests at Field restaurant in Prague with remarkable courtesy and a great care.

  • MICHELIN Young Chef Award went to Khanh Ta, chef of the Vietnamese restaurant Taro, also located in Prague.

  • MICHELIN Sommelier Award was received by Zdeněk Oudes at the restaurant Marie B, also located in Prague.

The Green Star honours sustainably minded restaurants that impressed the inspection team with their inspiring practices which are helping to shape the future of gastronomy. Four establishments in Czechia were granted a Green Star for their innovative concepts. They are Dvůr Perlová voda ⬈ in Budyně nad OhříLEAF ⬈ and Štangl ⬈ in Prague, and Sůl a Řepa in Strakonice.
