Shooting occurred at multiple
sites throughout the Czech Republic. The charming historic city centre of Úštěk was notably featured. Additional key scenes were filmed at Ratboř Castle near Kolín, particularly the winter scenes. The crew also travelled to the Žatec region, famous for its Czech hops and beer traditions.
 
The film titled ‘What Happens at Night,’ set to release in 2027 by Apple Original Films, centres on an American married couple whose relationship gradually declines. The cast features DiCaprio, Jennifer Lawrence, Mads Mikkelsen, and Patricia Clarkson.
 

Karlštejn


DiCaprio, who wore a moustache for his role, was seen multiple times in Prague's city centre during his stay in the Czech Republic in spring 2026. Witnesses reported that he visited historic landmarks, such as the famous Karlštejn Castle, around Easter. Additionally, he watched a performance of Wolfgang A. Mozart's opera Don Giovanni at the Estates Theatre, where the work had its world premiere.

Shortly after his breakthrough in What's Eating Gilbert Grape, actor Leonardo DiCaprio attended the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival. On his recent visit, he pleased Martin Janecký, a leading Czech glassmaker, by visiting his studio in Malá Strana, located in Prague's historic centre.
 

 
Reports indicate that DiCaprio visited the Hostinec na Výtoni restaurant. Located in the historic Podskalí Customs House on Rašínovo nábřeží in Prague, this venue was once where customs duties were levied on timber rafts travelling the Vltava River. Today, it is a well-known destination offering modern Czech cuisine in a vibrant riverside setting on the Vltava.

The renowned director Martin Scorsese, known for films like Raging Bull, Casino, and The Aviator, visited the Czech Republic with his daughter and dogs, exploring Prague on foot before filming began. Francesca Scorsese shared her experiences on Instagram, showcasing sights such as the historic Charles Bridge, the contemporary Dancing House, the romantic riverfront, a Vltava cruise, the Týn Church, and the stunning Strahov Library, regarded as one of the world's most valuable libraries.
 
The assembly of such a star-studded crew demonstrates that the Czech Republic remains an attractive destination for the international film industry.
