Be trendy! Three sports you must try in Prague

Do you want to do sport, get an adrenaline rush and do something for your health? Then these are just the sports for you!

Zumba or twerking are long forgotten. Today, there are trendy sports which stretch your body and give you a solid adrenaline rush. If you want to be in during your visit to Prague, we offer you a list of sports which currently have Prague moving and which you definitely must give a try.

Slacklining: A Balancing Act That Will Make You Sweat

Balancing, walking and jumping on a line of flat webbing anchored between two points – this is slacklining. Lovers of this adrenaline sport can be found all over the world, but to trace the beginnings of this relatively new sport, we have to take a trip to the Yosemite National Park, where climbers passed the time by walking along chains in the local car parks.

The line is not usually suspended high above the ground, so it all looks safe and easy… at least until you first step onto the line. The line is springy and not pulled tight, so you cannot walk across it just like that. But once you find your balance, you can try various tricks. You can start by sitting or lying, and later try jumping and even attempt a backwards somersault landing on the line.

It may not seem like it, but slacklining will really make you sweat. To find your balance on the line, you will use every muscle in your body. In Prague, you can have fun on a slackline in such places as Ladronka, Grébovka or Stromovka.

Paddleboarding: From Snapping Tourists to Rides Along the Vltava

If you want to try paddleboarding, you will have to take a trip to the Vltava. Paddleboarding is a sport where participants stand on a board and propel themselves along the Vltava with a long paddle. It is a great way to take in Prague sights such as Vyšehrad, the National Museum or Charles Bridge from a different angle and without queuing. It is also good for your health! Paddleboarding makes equal use of your whole body – from your calf muscles, to your back and oblique abdominal muscles, and every muscle in your arms.

The history of paddleboarding goes back to around 1960, when, cameras in hand, Hawaiian surfers supposedly paddled on their surfboards to places where tourists were learning to surf. There, they would gleefully photograph the novices’ attempts.

Spikeball: Fun with a Trampoline

Spikeball is the hot new sport on the block. It can be played anywhere, but if you want to give it your all, a beach or lawn is recommended. It is usually played by two competing pairs. A small trampoline is placed between them and the object of the game is to bounce the ball off the trampoline so that the opposing team cannot return it. The first team to score 21 points wins.
In Prague, fans of the game mostly meet at Ladronka or Stromovka, but spikeball can be played anywhere where your trampoline fits.
