Star Game Reserve (Obora Hvězda) in Prague
Prague is one of the cities with the largest share of greenery in the world. The centre features many parks and gardens, and further out there are many places where you can take a walk in a pleasant outdoor environment or play sports.
One such place is Star Game Reserve (Obora Hvězda), which can be found near the Petřiny metro station (Line A). This nature reserve was founded in the 16th Century during the reign of Emperor Ferdinand I. Its dominant feature is the summer palace in the shape of a six-pointed star, where exhibitions and other cultural events regularly take place. The park originally served as royal hunting grounds or as a place for ceremonial events such as coronations or diplomatic visits. Today, it is an ideal place for serene walks under the treetops or for jogging and cycling. Within its grounds, there are playgrounds, picnic areas and outdoor fitness features.
