You will feel as if you are in another century at the Museum of South Moravian Villages. Do not expect some boring institution – it is an open-air museum where you can see for yourself how ordinary people once lived and worked. You can literally touch the folk architecture as well as water works and vineyard and farm buildings.
Every year in June, the open-air museum transforms into a large stage – if you like singing or dancing, come to see performers from all over the world. The immediate contact with live folklore may cause you to want to join in. Do you know what Slovácko verbuňk is? If you were from from this region, you would sing it and maybe even dance it. It is the local style of folk dance that because of its uniqueness is inscribed on the UNESCO List of Intangible Cultural Heritage. It is said that verbuňk can not be taught, but that boys from the Slovácko region are born with it in their blood.

Resist Block Printing and Indigo Dyeing
Indigo dyeing of textiles has become an example of craft and folk art that took root in five Central European countries despite their different languages and cultures. The method has been used since the 18th century, and some wooden blocks are almost 300 years old, used by a seventh generation of printers. The fabric is printed with a special mixture that protects it from dyeing when in the indigo dyeing beck, or vat. When the protective mixture is removed, the pattern in the original fabric colour stands out against the blue foundation formed by various levels of dye saturation.
